Penelope Douglas is a writer and teacher in Las Vegas. Born in Dubuque, Iowa, she is the oldest of five 
children. Penelope attended the University of Northern Iowa, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, because her father told her to “just get the damn degree!” She then earned a Masters of Science in Education at Loyola University in New Orleans, because she HATED public administration. One night, she got tipsy and told the bouncer at the bar where she worked (yes, she was drunk at work) that his son was hot, and three years later she was married. To the son, not the bouncer. They have spawn, but just one. A daughter named Aydan. Penelope loves sweets, the show Sons of Anarchy, and she shops at Target almost daily.
Bully (Fall Away #1) is her first book, published June 2013. Please look for the companion novel, Until You, in late fall 2013 and Rival in the summer of 2014.

LS: How different was your writing process during Until You than for Bully?
Well, it was busier. I put myself on a deadline, which I didn’t do with Bully, and it helped keep me on track. I always do outlines, drafts, tons of edits, but the time crunch was new and using proofreaders and beta readers was new. Now, I will ALWAYS use betas and proofreaders. We’ve got a great story, because five sets of eyes was a lot better than two sets that I had on Bully.
LS: Your debut novel has been out for six months now. What were your expectations before you hit “publish” and how did reality measure up to them?
Oh, my God, Bully took off way better than I ever dreamed! I never thought it would really see the light of day, but it got quite the following, and I’m so thrilled. I know nothing about the book world. I didn’t promote or send out ARCs. Just write and published. I’m so grateful for the success.
LS: Was your writing process different this time around? What did you learn about you as a writer as you wrote Until You?
I’ve started obsessing more. During the edits, I felt like every word was wrong, and I was second guessing myself constantly. With Bully, I had no idea what I was in for with readers and publicity, but with Until You, I knew. And I was very nervous!
LS: Where did your inspiration for Tate and Jared come from?
Just from my head, honestly. I wrote the types of people I like. Tate is strong, because I can’t write weak females. And Jared never did a 180 in Bully, because I don’t really prefer grovelers. I love alphas, so that’s what I wrote. Some didn’t like it, but most did thankfully.
